Make It Thursdays

The Witham

2nd Thursday of every month
In these relaxed and friendly art sessions, you will be introduced to a different technique each session, allowing you to have a go at a variety of different media. Based on my experiences and interests as an artist and maker these will include a range of textile, paper and up-cycling projects to try your hand at.
Join artist and maker Gemma McColl in all things arty and crafty and in the first session create a beautiful handmade paper bead necklace. See website or contact The Witham for details of later sessions.

Victorian young ladies would gather socially in their dining rooms, whilst making handmade paper beads and I can understand why. This simple technique opens up a multitude of possibilities as the finished beads look elegant.

In the first session you will prepare the paper to make a necklace the colour of your choice, paint an ombre effect by blending two colours, keep it muted or make it rainbow to suit your taste. Experiment with bead shapes and seal them before stringing them on a ribbon, lace or chain finishing the necklace with a toggle clasp.

So, come and give something new a go; make new friends and enjoy the benefits being creative can bring.

Tickets are £15 and include materials to make a necklace.

Please note refunds cannot be issued except in the case of the session being cancelled.
